Thanks to Colin and Beryl for spotting this red-tailed hawk perched on top of the electric pole this morning!

We have welcomed new puppy Nova to the ranch.  He is 5 months old, and everyone just loves him.  Nova is a Catahoula Leopard/Lab mix.  He loves to play with the other dogs and his stuffed animals.

Wow, what a afternoon we had today. First of all the weather has been crazy the last 2 days - 3 days ago it was over 100 degrees and today it was in the upper 60’s to low 70’s during the day and it actually rained!!!! for the first time since mid-February. It was extremely windy one minute, and calm the next. While that is not crazy in itself, what happened 30 minutes before dinner indeed was - As I was walking up for dinner from my house (right next to horse pasture) It seemed that something wasn’t right, as there seemed to be a lot of horses running around and rearing up, but I thought for a second it might just be because it had been raining. After about 15 seconds I then realized that NO, a entire 1/5th of our corral full of horses had gotten loose, about 15 of them, and most were standing by the freshly delivered haystack having the “buffet of a lifetime” while a few others were showing off the fact they had escaped to the other horses still inside the other corrals - hence the rearing up and running around I had noticed. I called the wranglers down and we began to gather them one by one and most were cooperative. However, there were a few that wanted to have a little more “fun” shall we say (with the help of Tux our border collie herding them), and were not going to be caught just yet. And then came the rain! now it hasn’t rained in 3 months and we haven’t had this many horses get loose in many, many years, so the chances of both happening in one 20 minute period is slim to none. Just a quick note to say a heartfelt “Thank You” to all of you for making our first vacation a memorable one. We had a spectacular time, and we will be back again. Everything was perfect.

Thank you Craig , Scott, and Trey for your poems, treasure hunts, and humor. You put a smile on our faces and that’s priceless. Codi, Tanner, and I came to say bye but were saddened that we had mistimed it. Take care of yourselves as we would love to see you all again.

Ozzie and Morris are growing up quick and have tripled in size since we brought them home a few months ago. They remain very friendly and love snuggling with guests in the Lodge and playing with the dogs tails and anything else that moves.

While we are closed the dogs are sleeping in the Frontier Lodge so we don’t have to worry about 5 dogs around Sophie. Here is a cute little pic of “Ozzie” snuggling up with “Gus” on his pillow and another one of “Morris” going after his tail.

Today we brought home 2 new kittens. They are brothers that were born September 24, 2007. The one with the black spot on his nose is called “Morris” and the one with the white nose is called “Oswald” but “Ozzy” for short! They are great little kittens and really enjoy playing with each other.

We have some sad news as our cat “Milo” passed away with a severe kidney infection. He was a great cat and everyone enjoyed playing with him. He might me missed the most by the dogs! who loved to play with him.

Although we have all been enjoying the excitement of the happy baby news, we do have some sad news to pass on to all of you as well. We recently lost our very beloved horse Navajo to colic (a disease that can cause a horse’s intestine to twist causing death). We thought we caught it in time and everyone worked so hard to save him but it was not to be. We know he was loved by many of our guests and so we wanted to share this sad news with all of you. He will be very hard to replace. God blessed us with this wonderful horse for 5 years and we are very thankful he was a part of our ranch horse family. We all loved him and will miss him terribly.
