We would like to personally thank the Children’s Oncology Group for a great 5th year visit. Thanks to the group coordinator Amber for making this trip happen year after year. It is the most inspirational group of children and staff that we have at the ranch every fall. Everyone talks about the group throughout the year and can’t wait for their return and are always sad to say goodbye. These children ranging from ages 11-17 are in remission for childhood cancer. The trip out west is a real treat after some hardships these kids go through. Majority of the staff that join the children are also cancer survivors and we can’t thank them enough for being part of one of our best weeks out to the year. We can’t wait for you all to return next fall and possibly add an additional spring group into the mix.

We’d like to extend a thank you to all of the guests that were at the ranch last week. Everyone was a returning guest and many were on their 10++ visit! One of the groups, dubbed “Nancy’s Group,” has once again created fond memories for everyone. Many other guests returned this week just so they could join in on the fun that the various groups have brought over the years. Friendship Ventures, a special needs group from Minnesota, was on their 10th visit, and they are always an inspirational group to have at our ranch. We also enjoyed having our “Japanese Cowboys” come back for their 3rd year in a row and teach our guests origami. A few pictures are included below. We thank all of our guests that continue to visit the ranch year after year, and we look forward to having everyone back next year and some of you back a little sooner than that.

Jodi and Sophie (Dan & Carrie’s daughter-in-law and their granddaughter) are heading back to STGR tomorrow. Jodi and Sophie stopped out for a short visit in August after moving back to Wisconsin with Dan & Carrie’s son Jeremy. They will be visiting for a week this time. Peggy (Carrie’s childhood friend), who lives visits the ranch about 4 or 5 times a year, will be out at the ranch tomorrow for another month long visit. We welcome the girls back with open arms. We have missed them.
For past guests that are looking for an updated picture of Sophie, we have included a shot of her in her GreenBay Packers cheerleading outfit. She will be 9 months old on Friday. She is saying “Mama” and “Papa”(which is what we have been calling Jeremy), as well as crawling, pulling herself up and crawling up the stairs. She can wave and do a high-five. She is great and we can’t wait to have her back for a week long visit.

We have filled our last wrangling positions at STGR. We continue to have Craig and Jesse, who have been great assets to the riding program at the ranch. We have now added Steve, a friend of Jesse’s from Wisconsin, who is adapting to the warmer Arizona weather nicely. We also welcome wrangler Scott from Colorado who has done trail riding for many years. We look forward to a great fall/winter season.
We will still be needing to fill a wrangling position in early February once Jesse and Steve head back to school in the Midwest. If you are interested in wrangling at STGR from early February through May 2009, please email us at: vacation@stgr.com and send us a detailed resume. Thanks. Giddy Up!

Stagecoach Trails is offering 1 hour massages for $55. We have a certified massage therapist that lives in Lake Havasu City that comes out to the ranch to offer her services. These must be booked ahead of time. Joann runs a business in town and is able to come out to the ranch a few times a month. If you are interested in receiving a massage, please let us know ahead of time and we’ll pencil it in for during your stay. Thanks.

We’d like to send a big thank you to the Lake Havasu City Yacht Club for another fun weekend at the ranch. This was their 13th weekend out to the ranch since we have opened. We enjoy having many repeat members come out and visit, as well as new members every time. Relaxing, riding and fun in the sun was the itinerary. It was great to have everyone out. We will see you all again in the spring.

The ranch is closed for the extended weekend for this much needed break from the busy past few weeks. We have all adapted to the new roles being played at the ranch. Dan & Carrie’s niece Mary has left us yesterday to head back to Wisconsin. She was our on-site massage therapist and is moving back because she has become engaged to her boyfriend back home and she was only expected to stay at the ranch for a year. We got her for a few extra months! We wish her well in her driving trip back to the midwest. Lilah and her will be greatly missed. We do have a massage therapist in the nearby town of Lake Havasu City that will be coming out to the ranch to do massages. Guests need to let us know if they are interested in receiving one ahead of time if possible. Joanne is great and used to be our massage therapist before Mary moved to Arizona.
Vicki is a certified esthetician and will be offering facial waxing, along with facials and more starting in late September, as additional spa services. More info on this to come….
We also welcome two additional wranglers to the team, Chuck and Steve. Chuck lives locally in Arizona and is a veteran cowboy. Steve is a friend of Jesse’s from back in Wisconsin and will be heading out to the ranch in September to help through the winter season.
We look forward to our upcoming guests. Keep the comments coming! Happy Trails!

We apologize for the delay since our last posting on the blog. We have been very busy since reopening in mid July. Jeremy, Jodi and Sophie have finally settled into their house in Wisconsin. They are doing well and Jeremy is managing a hotel now up in Wisconsin, and Jodi is able to work for the ranch from home and take care of Sophie, who is now 7 months! We welcome back Dan & Carrie’s daughter Vicki and her husband Tony back to the ranch after being gone for two years. Vicki helps around the ranch everywhere and takes over everything Jodi was doing. Tony has taken over cooking for a few months from Randy, who is enjoying his time off from the ranch. Tony used to be a chef back in Wisconsin and we must say, the food is fantastic. We have had a great summer with new wranglers spending the summer with us before heading back to college. Jesse has even decided to take a semester off of college and stay on through the winter season! We will be posting more frequently now that everyone has settled into their new homes and taken on their new job duties. We are enjoying all the guests we’ve had so far and can’t wait for many more to come in the upcoming months!
